Privacy Policy

Keyholder is a couples' relationship-management app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's protected. Keyholder is built and operated by the team behind Mateable.com.

1. Information We Collect

• Account info: email address, display name, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), and your selected role (keyholder or submissive).
• Couple-linking data: the invite codes used to connect two accounts, and which two accounts are linked.
• Activity data: chores you create or complete, point transactions, rewards and redemptions, device-care status and history, calendar events, and Work Mode schedules.
• Optional photo proof: if a chore requires photo proof, the submitted photo is stored and only visible to your linked partner.
• Feedback: messages sent through the in-app feedback form go directly to the developer, not to your partner.
• Location (only if you turn it on): location sharing is off by default and can only be turned on by the account it belongs to — never by a partner. When it's on, we store recent location pings and named places (like "Home" or "Work") you or your partner define, to show arrival/departure. Both partners always see the exact same location data; there is no way to view someone's location without their sharing being on, and no history is kept for accounts that never turn it on.
• Basic technical data: IP address at registration and login (used for account security, such as detecting suspicious logins and preventing abuse).

There is no advertising or third-party tracking in this app, and location data is never sold or shared outside your linked couple.

2. Who Can See What

Data is scoped strictly to your linked couple. A keyholder can be linked to more than one submissive, but each relationship is kept fully separate — one partner never sees another partner's data. No activity data is ever visible to anyone outside your specific link.

3. Device Care & Safety

Keyholder has no hardware integration and never controls a physical device. All "device care" and "lock status" information is a shared status the two of you update manually, based on your own agreed routine. The in-app Emergency Stop is always available to either partner, requires no approval from anyone, and immediately notifies both partners — this is a safety feature, not something either partner can disable for the other.

4. Age Requirement

Keyholder is strictly for adults. You must be 18 or older and confirm this at registration. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and any account found to violate this will be removed.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can unlink from your partner at any time from within the app. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below and we will remove your account and associated data.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Access tokens expire automatically. We use rate limiting and automated request scanning to guard against common attacks.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
