KEYHOLDERby Mateable

Getting Started

Installing on Android

Keyholder is currently in private beta, distributed directly rather than through Google Play. That means Android needs your permission to install it once -- here's exactly how.

1

Download the APK

Tap the download button below on your Android phone (not a desktop browser). The file is a few dozen megabytes and downloads like any other file.

2

Allow installs from this source

When you open the downloaded file, Android will block it by default and offer a settings link right there -- tap it, then enable the toggle for your browser or Files app.

Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps
3

Install and open

Go back and tap the downloaded file again, then tap Install. Android may show a Play Protect warning since the app isn't from the Store -- tap "Install anyway." This is expected for private beta apps.

4

Create your account or accept an invite

Open Keyholder, sign up, and either send an invite code to your partner or enter the one they sent you.

Ready when you are.

Why isn't this on the Play Store? We're still in private beta. The "unknown sources" warning is normal for any app distributed this way and doesn't mean anything is wrong with your phone -- it's just Android's standard check for apps installed outside the Store.
